Beware! This is NOT pretty! Well, some of is.

We are glad Jim is alive. I mean really! You know how many times I have said that?
I walked in the door Thursday from work to hear, "Spence come here! I'm bleeding all over!" Freaked me out? You bet!
Jim has been trying to build a gazebo type room on our back deck where we can go to hide from the rain and mosquito's. He thought there was this thingy (a technical term too hard to explain 'cuz I really don't know what it was) that he needed to nail on the roof. So, he did what anyone would do, (except for me 'cuz I have a huge fear of heights and I'm not stable on flat ground), and went up the ladder to handle it.
His description was that his foot slipped and it was like he was in slow motion falling down to the deck.
Now, we really don't want to contemplate the BAD stuff that COULD HAVE happened. Like: you had a HAMMER IN YOUR HAND!!! or broken legs-arms-body-concussion-etc-etc.
Anyway, we made a trip to the walk in clinic to get him sewed up. He was a bit sore, but just 3 stitches and he was good to go.
After 3 days now this is what he looks like. (Warning! If you are squeamish, maybe look away.)

I think the lip was to make him look like a pirate growling. No, I did NOT hit him! He really did fall off the roof!
So, I spilled the gory details at the service group on Friday. Brother says to tell Jim NOT to do that again! Why? I need him. AND the congregation is short of brothers and can't afford to loose any! So, he's on the mend, although a lot sore. He says each day he actually feels worse. So, I try to encourage him and say, "Oh, that's a good sign! Means you are healing!"
Now for the "Pretty" stuff. We were privileged to have this family over last Sunday night. He gave the English talk at our hall-interpreted. Long time friends with a new little Shayla. Is she adorable or what?!?!?!

Our goal this week? Is to all stay alive and no stitches! And maybe, hopefully, wishfully finish my service time for the month.
Oh, the roof thingy to be fixed? We offered up Spence to do it. Not that he is dis "Spence" able, but because he is much younger and more agile. In my opinion, at "over" 50 you should NOT be on a roof.

Catching up for October.

It's Sunday. 10:20 AM. We were in Moosejaw last weekend-Friday-Monday. Worked Tues-Thurs. Put in 20 hours in service since It's Sunday. We were in Moosejaw last weekend-Friday-Monday. Worked Tues-Thurs. Put in 20 hours in service since Thursday. Had company last night and expecting more for dinner after meeting tonight. Did 3 loads of wash-100 more to do (Slight exageration.) And made Jim breakfast-French toast, eggs and coffee. So, here are un-organized updates.

What would a trip to Moosejaw be without a visit to see Jim's Mom Madeline!! She was SO happy to see him!

And what would a trip to "Moose" jaw be without the Moose! In case you wondered one is just a statue. They now have it inside a fence and you can "Pay" to go inside the fence to have your picture taken with the Moose. We opted for Long Distance pictures. 2nd one is from the Tourist information place.

Main street in Moosejaw.
Yep, even have an information centre!

Thought these were cute. Great building murals in the town. This one happens to be on the Casino. And loved the "Chocolate Moose Fudge Factory" store. Didn't get to go in as they weren't open when we drove by, but next time? Maybe?

More fun murals and old car on a building.
Some pictures of the snow last weekend and the view of the city from Jim's mom's apartment.

Not Moosejaw. But a sweet new newlywed couple! Braydn and Zoe. They are awesome nice! I did tell them to get their "wants" out of the way the 1st year of marriage when you still feel like "Whatever you want, dear!" Cuz after that, it's "No way! We are not painting that room that color!!!"

10:45 AM and better git 'er done

Spence's Shindig

Spence loves to have people over to the house. So, the "sure IF...." thing was, "If.." you clean the house, you can have people over. Friday I asked if it was clean downstairs and he said, "Yes, almost. Dad can testify that I vacuumed..." I have a responsiblity as the "Wicked Stepmother" to give warnings: "If it's NOT clean, I will put a yellow tape across the door that says: 'Caution!! Do not enter!'" So, this is Cinderfella's reaction:

To be perfectly honest, I haven't vacuumed the shades in a long time, and I really didn't mean he had to clean to that extent. HOWEVER, I was pretty impressed at his level of compliance!!!

Should have taken pictures of the guests. But due to confidentiality, here is the guest list:
I told them the first person out gets to pick the shoes they want. Not that I was hurrying anyone out the door. Amazingly, there weren't any leftover pairs.
Fun night and we were actually invited to stay! Well, at first Spence said there was a pizza charge of $10, but I said I would need a "House rental fee". But, in the end he actually ordered a special pizza for me-taco cause he knows I LOVE mexican and even handed me a plate.
WOW.

Moosejaw, Like nowhere else!

It's almost 10. Finished our Study. I want to go to BED!! Working too much makes a cranky Cheri for sure.
Just quick "Moosejaw" pictures, though.
From the Tourist infomation: Moosejaw, It's like nowhere else. I'm not sure that's the best draw, but it sure as well is true.

Moosejaw has tons of murals on buildings. These are actually on the Casino there.
And what would "Moose"jaw be without a Moose?

And there you are. 3 minute post.

Heading toward an Abyss.

Wow am I ever behind in my posts! Well, I have a good excuse, (I think). I have been working lots of extra days because someone is really sick and I'm the only one trained to do her job.
And if people would just stop getting Impaired Driving charges, I wouldn't be in such high demand, you know?
We also had our Circuit Assembly last weekend. And the Pioneer meeting on Friday. Wonderful! To hear it in English for a change was a tremendous treat. I love to see the information in sign language, but.... I still need my English fix now and then. The brother talked about "Peaks and Valley's" of pioneering. Example: A brother goes out in service, has planned 2 good Bible studies, a good lunch, and a good pioneer partner. The 2 studies quit, his RV died, he got in a tiff with his pioneer partner, his car engine light went on and he got home and lost his job. The D.O. said, "That's not a valley, that's an abyss!" So, guess what happened when I got back to my car? Not an abyss, just a flat tire-in the rain. And obviously, I still have my job.

Also, had a demo in sign language at the same time for Jim's part. (He had two parts-tried to support.) Is that enough excuses?
I got one picture, and not a clear one. Then my camera batteries died-even the rechargeable ones. (Jim is at the store right now picking up batteries, I hope.)

Anyway, the girls had a recipe swap party on Monday. Swap food, wine and recipes. What an awesome fun night it was. (Amy, great idea for a party!) If you can believe it, I was the designated driver. Can't you imagine what I would say at work if I was on the OTHER side of the desk with an impaired driving charge?

Some got real pretty about their recipes, and some just printed them out. (Mine are the ones printed on colored paper!) I brought 3 recipes. Mexican Lasagna, Home-made noodles, AND a fun one: Darcie's "What's in the Fridge Pizza". I asked her for recipe's and she told me what she made for dinner. I giggled like crazy when she was telling me and she kept saying, no, really, it was just what was in my Fridge. But it sounded so awesome that I printed it out and brought it anyway.

We are heading to Moose Jaw, Sask. tomorrow until Monday. Jim has Friday and Monday off and I finally have a few days off until I go back to the trenches next week. If I make my service time this month......it will be a MIRACLE!!! (Not an abyss but getting there)

Hope to bring you back a "Moose" picture. I am also hoping NOT to have snow pictures, but they are using that "S" word in the forecast. Guess it's unavoidable, eh?
