One more sleep.

Girls trip starts tomorrow, supposed to be @ 6 AM. I will be ecstatic if all are here and we are on the road @ 6! To get 6 women together and in a car (van) and on the road ON TIME will say a lot about how the trip will go.
However, we all want this to be an awesome trip, with 6 NSTB's (No Stress Travel Buddies), we won't start stressed if we can't!
Sad I have to leave my hubby behind. If I could take the most important things to me, he would be the 1st I would take.

Watch the dust.

When my Blog favorite person posted that they hit 10,000 hits on their blog, had to come see where I was. 9723!!!

Who are you????

I actually only started my blog to keep my family posted on my happenings. And to start to track my life. I actually think some times when I meet people and start to detail my life they are SURE I am just a story teller. I get these "Uh, are you sure? Maybe you are in the early stages of dementia" looks. (I wanted to say Alzheimer's but can't spell it.)

We went to the Special Assembly yesterday in English, which also allows us to visit with people we love but don't see often. One friend said to a woman who had just met me, "Where she goes, watch the dust! She is always busy!"

Seems to be true when I start detailing my schedule. I just am not a "sitter". I don't "Sit" well. I have to be sorting, reading, doing puzzles or whatever. When we were taking our ASL class, my daughter was visiting and told me, "Mom, you are acting like a teenager! Partying all weekend, staying out late and not getting your studying done! You have to slow down!

Yesterday, wasn't up to par. Had some issues (stomach-TMI for my acronym friends) and had to miss my Special Talk.

And had to sit.

I did watch a few old movies, LOVE them. But, then I did some sorting of papers and shredding. Then I clogged the shredder, so UN clogged it. And of course, the chair I sit it, should be a rocker. That way I can sit and move and the same time!

And then there were 6.

I just wanted a simple road trip. My friend and I, on our way to Michigan for an Assembly. I am in no way capable of driving it alone, so I asked my "No Stress Travel Buddy" to help me make the drive. (2 days there, 2 days back).

I had visions of our last trip, we went to Omaha and had the time of our lives! Not the Thelma and Louise kind of fun, but the "Over the Bridge, Through the lights, Left, Left"-Brother dancing and singing directions- kind of fun!

Or the Chevy Chase's "National Lampoon's Vacation" type of a trip, although it may still end up being that kind, we'll see.

And since we are going to an ASL Special Assembly of Jehovah's Witnesses, DEFINITELY not the "Easy Rider" kind of a vacation. Besides, we don't have any motorcycles.

And we don't have a cool car like this to drive, either, so it won't be the James Taylor, Dennis Wilson (Beach boys) "Two Lane Blacktop type either.

What we have is a van. However, we are hoping all the doors are still on when we get home. Not like "Little Miss Sunshine".

So, started with just the two of us.

And then there were 2.

Friend # 3 made arrangements to come along. Awesome Pioneer Partners.

And then there were 3

We wanted another driver. And another Awesome Pioneer Partner.

And then there were 4.

We got so excited making plans -talked about our "tiara's" we were going to wear, making T Shirts, games to play on the way, that 2 others actually cancelled their plane tickets so that they could travel with us.

So, now there are 6 Awesome Pioneer Partners!

I just am hoping the trip is as much fun as the planning part has been. Hotel rooms on Hotwire, and shopping plans, and buying the Tiara's, and games-The Alphabet Eating game. You have to eat things in order of the Alphabet-1st an Apple, Then B-Burger, C-Candy. Oops we might just get stuck on C.

Learning to drive.

I bought a deck of cards with "Topics for discussion" for an upcoming trip. One of the questions:

Who taught you to drive?

Most teenagers look forward to the day when they can get their learners! I was the same. So, at 15 I was able to get mine.
I would go over to visit my Dad every Sunday. So, he was the one with the task of the hands on wheel training. Not a fun one, you could tell by the stress on his face, but he did a good job.
(No scratches in the learning process, thank goodness!)
And, I also took a Drivers Education class at school for the details.

When I got my license at 17, I thought it would give me FREEDOM!

But, you have to have a car or the license is not fun! And, my Dad got tired of me phoning him at 10:00 PM to come and pick me up from work to drive me across town home.
So, he purchased a 57 Chevy for me! (4 Door - but worked great!) I had no idea at the time what a great thing he did for me.

Because of a bit of jealousy on my mom's part, I knew that she would not take it well. So, I didn't tell my mom or step dad. I parked it up the street and around the corner and would walk home-as if I had taken the bus.

I would wash the car and keep it clean. Without skills as to how to wash a car, I climbed on the roof of the car to wash it, slid down the back and sliced my leg up pretty good. No stitches, just a huge scar today. I have also since learned not to climb on the roof of the car. Actually, if I am washing the car by hand, I don't worry about the top part as much. After all, who looks at the roof of your car other than truckers driving next to you who have WAY dirtier trucks!

One day my mom told me she knew I had the car, but didn't tell my step dad because he would have had a fit if he knew my Dad gave me a car! She thought this might be a good thing because I could do errands for her! But, that was short lived, found out and I had to give it up and give it back to my Dad.

Part 2 of driving skills is to learn to drive a Standard (stick shift) car. So, my cousin took me one day in his car-brave soul he was! Taught me the basics. I thought I had it covered! Until my brother let me drive his El Camino up a steep hill. Did I ever tell him I had to back down the entire hill because I had a line-up behind me, not being able to get over the hill? I can now successfully drive a Stick shift car, only burning the clutch a "little".

Today, I drive all over the city on a daily basis. Pick people up, go to work or our meetings.

I am no longer so excited about being able to drive!
SO, fair warning children! If in the future I become old(er) and you are EVER concerned about my driving skills (more than you already have been for years), PLEASE!!! let me know and you can ABSOLUTELY! HAVE! THE! KEYS!!!

Movin on.

So, we've gone from this:

To this:

My hubby is much better. Although, I'm not sure he was ready to move furniture! But, had to be done. His mom's apartment had to be cleaned out by April 1 and so they rented a truck, left Weds and were back at 10:45 last night! WOW! Whirlwind trip! I know he is wiped out!

Company from back home tonight. He is giving an ASL talk on Sunday at our Congregation. So, today will be clean, move furniture and blow up a mattress!

Never slows down, does it?
