The Deal of the Decade!

Jim absolutely has to have "THE DEAL OF THE DECADE!!!" before he will spend any kind of money. So, our car search was quite the ordeal. Internet search, Test drive, Internet search, Test drive, try to deal with a salesman, won't come down on price, Jim won't budge, Start all over again.
Well, he found it! The new car! Well, it's new to us anyway and pretty close to new anyway you look at it. It's a Ford Focus Wagon, 2006 and had only 13,000 KM on it when we bought it! So, it met Jim's criteria as the absolute deal. Here tis:

Still has that new car smell. But how does Cheri really feel about the car? Not my 1st pick. As a matter of fact, I did NOT want a Ford Focus. Not my favorite car. What I did pray for was a good service car, one with good cupholders. Cupholders are a definite MUST in our language group. We spend a LOT of time at coffee shops-searching for deaf of course, and with up to 5 people in the car, you need AT LEAST 5 good cupholders, which this has. AND, so, it has to have room for up to 5, AND good gas mileage.
I should have been more specific in my prayers. This was not the "look" I was "Looking for". And, when a younger sister asked what kind of car we got, she then said, "That's an old people's car!" However, Look at these cupholders!!!

And, living in Canada, a great feature it has is.............BUM WARMERS! (heated seats for you Southerners) Yep, cloth (don't like leather in cold weather) Bum Warmers! That will mean a real challenge because everyone will want to sit up front with me and I will have to pick and someone will get their feelings hurt and I will have to settle it in a scriptural manner (Matthew 18 is it?). But one thing I know, I WILL have a warm BUM this winter.
So, I'm getting used to this car.
Also, putting the 1st scratches are absolutely MY responsibility. I get really frustrated with myself because I try SO HARD to be a good driver, and will do really well until I get my mind distracted-upset-thinking, whatever the problem is. Just in general can't turn my brain off, so I will do stupid things and then the next thing you know, yep there it happened. So, never want to disappoint Jim with the 1st scratch, but it's inevitable it seems with me.
Case in point. Last year coming home, went around a yield curve-merging onto traffic. Older guy in a van in front of me stops. (Supposed to MERGE-which I have found that Winnipegers do NOT have merge genes.) He then moves forward, I was thinking he was GOING. I look left to check, no traffic and I go. Well, he went but then STOPPED-did NOT merge. Which means I hit him. I look at his car--4inch scratch. This 4inch scratch will mean an additional charge on my drivers license of $400! They do not raise your insurance here, just tag it onto your drivers license. So, my error is now costing me BIG TIME!
You know, I have come to realize why Winnipegers drive so stinken slow! I need to become one of those "Old People" drivers since I now have an "Old People's car"!

Sept 09 Week of Stuff

So, we made it 11 Years!! Yeah! Yipee!
We decided to take a trip to Grand Forks, North Dakota. For us in Winnipeg, that is an outing where you can walk outside without mosquitos!!!! Anyway, we had a couple wonderful days of ....................

You didn't REALLY think I was going to show you, did you??

Jim bought us a new game to play-You might be a Redneck if... Game. The goal of the game is to get one Recliner, Hound Dog, Satellite Dish, Jerky TV, and Fly Swatter. And it has questions like: "You might be a Redneck if...You've skipped work A. To go Trapshooting B. To watch NASCAR on TV C. For a sidewalk Sale. (Correct answer is C but personally, I wouldn't skip work, just go for a LONG lunch!) Interesting think about this game, I don't find the answers unusual. Does that mean...?

And now and then, we get Grandkids to play with. Our youngest Granddaughter has been in Winnipeg the past two weeks She was playing Hackey-Sak with Spence. Hav'n a ball tryin to kick that thing.

And Grandpa havin' a ball with her and the cabbage patch doll he bought her.

He will let her do ANYTHING!

So, tomorrow we Hailey-sit for the afternoon. Guess she might be going to sign-language meeting with us. She is such a little talker, won't that be an event for her!!! And an opportunity for us to show her off.

And the other thing that has filled our week: Trying to find another car! YIKES!
Jim on the internet for hours and hours and hours.
Car lots and car lots and car lots.
(I sit and play games
on my phone a lot
waiting to test drive.)
Went to test drive a Toyota Corolla. (Salesman lied-won't buy there!)
REALLY liked this Nissan Versa. Test drove it.
Test drove an Elantra.
Test Drove a Pontiac Vibe.
Test drove another Nissan Versa.
Sat in a Toyota Yaris
(Thought I wanted one of those, but add a couple winter coats and we would be stuffed in that thing) End of the day, REALLY like the 1st Nissan Versa but... Waiting on our ship to come in so we can go pick up our car at the pier. I just WISH I had a picture for you of my new car. Maybe, just maybe, will have a picture next week.

What is it REALLY called?

We are in the process of getting a new "Front-Back" door. This would be because it really is the "Front" door as far as how the house was built. However, we don't use this as a "Front" door but a "Back" door and we use the "Back" door as the "Front"door. Always the confusion then when we say it's by the "Back" door. We have never figured out what to call it! However, it is new. Just need the trim and we are good to go out the "Front-Back?" door!
This is the Tech person in the house. Not bragging but... I have maintained that Jim can fix ANY thing! Just give him time and a book and he will figure it out! I feel blessed to have him around!
If I could figure out how to get the pictures off of my cell phone and onto the computer I would show you the AWESOME ramp he built for an older brother in our hall. Completed with a bench for them to sit outside on-just in case he doesn't want to go DOWN the ramp but just sit. He designed it, and coordinated the ones helping to "git er done!" Really proud of what he did for them! After it was all done, he then went and fixed the fence gate that wasn't closing right. They told him many have tried to fix it and it is finally done! Great job Jim!! You are the best.
Jim loves projects and technology! He has helped other ones in the hall purchase laptops and become online computer people.
I have a desk in the middle room. It has our laptop, Jim's Archos, his books for the K Hall (calculator, stapler, files, etc) pencils and somewhere in there my sewing machine. We call it "my" desk because it was built for me to have a place to sew and use the computer and all. Well, like the door, it really is not "My" desk but "Our" desk now. Jim's computer stuff, all the K Hall stuff and lots of other stuff are crowding out my sewing machine!
I decided to download pictures today and in my OCD character, I had sorted all the cords a couple weeks ago and put them into baggies so that they would not get all tangled up. This was supposed to allow us to immediately pick which cord we needed. Today I looked for the cord to my camera. Can't find it! Which one is it???? None seem to fit, but I KNOW I just used it a few days ago! Where could it have gone???? Jim! What did YOU do with it???
(oops sorry, Jim)
I left it plugged into the computer from last week!
