My Omaha Visit

Almost done with our "Texas/ASL" trip. We are in Omaha, visiting family two more days. (Did I mention, I LOVE my family!) I didn't just buy the photo's with the nice looking people and tell everyone that these are my family. And, it's not a case of "if you can't be handsome, at least be handy.

Cuz, they are beautiful, handy and a huge spiritual boost for me.

I got to visit my brother, John and his wife Vileen. Now, hate to admit how long it has been since we visited. We had such a nice visit then we say, "See you in 5 years!" 5 years!! What's that about? That means we would both be in our 60's??? NO WAY! YOU CAN'T MAKE ME BE 60! Anyway, we love to laugh and joke and we start reminiscing about our life growing up. It's been said that people laugh to cover the pain. Well, we can laugh better than a lot of people about our life growing up. However, I'm pretty sure we are all past the pain, and just laugh now. "Remember the popcorn over the head, all over the house just as mom drove up and we had no time to clean it up?"

Today is my last day to see Keith Jr's and Scott's families They leave for Wyoming early tomorrow AM. All the cousins get to see each other! Darcie and her family are heading there too. What a riot! So glad for them and I know my Amy will blog the details for me. (See Paris 09 for her details) I am really emotional and cry a lot when I leave my family. They have come to expect it of me. I could easily do a cry scene in a movie. Just thinking about the blessings they have given me will do it. Gotta go, the keyboard is getting damp.

ASL in TEXAS!

Okay, so this is my very first blog posting. Since I am not the "Techy" person, I had my daughter-in-law's sister do the techy stuff. She did an awesome job, eh? We'll work on pictures when we get home, K? Thank you thank you Angela!!!!

Anyway, we have been in Texas since last Thursday for an ASL District Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses. WOW! I am impressed by several things:
I actually understood it!
How much fun it is! (Especially in Texas with the Southern way of doing things-just showing us what their sign names are was a riot!)
People were SO helpful when I was in a fog trying to understand them.

Lots of new people. One brother in ASL for 5 months-way better than us! However, they have 20 deaf in their congregation. Reminded me of the International conventions because if we were in Walmart, saw someone signing (with or without a badge) you just KNEW they were Witnesses and went up and chat-chat-chat! AWESOME! Met so many new ones. (Gotta show ya one sister's shoes! WOW!

Jim and I have been to 4 convetions now, but this one REALLY explained it better than any, I have to say!

After the convention we went to the Stockyards in Dallas and the water fountains. Loved it, but my feet didn't! Long horn cattle walking down the street! And an "We're in jail" picture.

We are staying at a lovely family's home for the next two days. Where else but in Jehovah's organization would people take you into their home never having met you before!

So we head to Omaha either Weds or Thurs. Gotta see and touch those kids and grandkids!

Thanks again Angela! I'll get the knack to add pictures later.
